Consciousness-raising and environmental education of the employees, collaborators, service providers and the local community were spontaneously assumed by Renova Waste Processing, which implemented an intense training program so that they could begin operating in a more ecologically correct manner.

The health and quality of life inside and outside the company is the object of special attention from Renova. For this reason, it instituted the CIPA (Comissão Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes – Internal Committee for Accident Prevention) and continually performs simulations of environmental emergencies, first aid, and the fire brigade.

The local population benefits from the permanent support and the development of activities that the company performs in partnership with some entities, such as the Instituto Pau Brasil (Brazilwood Institute) and Cruma (Cooperativa de Reciclagem Unida pelo Meio Ambiente - Recycling Cooperative United for the Environment).

Instituto Pau Brasil de História Natural (Brazilwood Institute of Natural History) – It is an NGO whose objective is to develop work aimed at children in the areas of research and environmental education, in the space known as “Casa da Ecologia” (Ecology House). At the location is the exhibit “Life on Earth. The Dynamics of the Universe and of Life on Our Planet.”

In addition to the exposition, the Institute has a library with rare works and a laboratory for research about the region’s fauna and flora, furthering the replacement of species in extinction.

Cruma – The Cooperativa de Reciclagem Unidos pelo Meio Ambiente (Recycling Cooperative United for the Environment) was founded in 1997 with the goal of generating jobs and income, and at the same time promoting conservation of the environment.

Cruma consists of recycling agents that perform recycling collection in the neighborhoods of the city of Poá. The collection is done in carts constructed by the cooperative members themselves, with recycled material, operating in industries, commerce, and residences.
