1 For how long has Renova been in the Environmental industry?
ANS - Renova Resíduos was established in 1986, starting an effective work in support to the industries concerned with environmental quality and protection. At that time, the environmental controls were scarce, and only a few companies had this subject in mind. It took a lot of effort, dedication and work to reach the current days with industrial residues recycling processes in compliance with the highest quality, safety and reliability standards.
2 Is Renova certified in environmental management systems or does it have plans to obtain this kind of certification?
ANS - Renova Resíduos has an environmental management system implemented, including selective waste collection, and is certified according to the NBR ISO 14001 regulation since October 2001 by ABS Quality Evaluations.
3 Does Renova hold all the licenses and authorizations issued by the environmental regulatory authorities of the states in which it operates?
ANS - Yes, Renova Resíduos holds all the licenses and authorizations issued by Cetesb, the environmental regulatory authority of the State of São Paulo, and only receives residues for treatment and recycling upon the issuance of the environmental licenses in the states in which operates.
4 Does Renova have its own transportation with all the legal authorizations from the Ministry of Transport, NBRs and INMETRO? Does it also have any kind of insurance against accidents and an emergency service?
ANS - Renova has its own fleet of dumpster trucks with water-tight interchangeable dumpsters. It also operates an outsourced fleet, with trucks and tilting trailers for dry load. All drivers undergo an extensive training on how to transport hazardous load. All trucks are covered by an emergency service contract in case of accidents that may cause leakage and contamination of the environment.
5 Does Renova have a laboratory for the analysis of the residues received and other analyses deemed necessary during the handling, usage, recycling and/or final disposal process?
ANS - Renova Resíduos has a laboratory able to carry out all the necessary analyses before, during and after the recycling processes used. These analyses follow these criteria: Solid residues – Gross sample NBR Rate 10004; Leaching of Residues NBR Rate 10005; Solubilization of Residues NBR Rate 10006.
6 Does Renova have formal authorization from the environmental authority for the disposal of residues generated in its production process?
ANS - Renova Resíduos generates some residues in its productive process, such as oil emulsions, metal barrels, cloth ashes and laboratory effluents. All of these residues are discarded with the due authorization from the environmental authority, in compliance with standards previously established in Renova’s controls and audits by suppliers and service providers.
7 Is the process used by Renova similar to co-processing?
ANS - No, Renova Resíduos uses an industrial residues recycling process, based on the volatilization of the moisture found in the material for later chemical and granulometric adjustments, changing the residues into raw material to be reused, thus eliminating the co-responsibility of the generating company.
8 How is the traceability of the residues sent to Renova for treatment assured?
ANS – The batches to be processed are identified through internal processing controls, both those in processing stage and those already processed, with all the information regarding the residues received by Renova. For external controls, complete reports are made available informing the lifecycle of the residues, from their arrival at Renova until their final destination. These reports include all the information regarding the destination of the residues, such as copies of the licenses involved, graphs, certificates, Invoices and values accumulated in the period.
9 Can any kind of residue be forwarded to Renova?
ANS - No, Renova does not accept liquid or solid residues which carry high amounts of heavy metals.
10 How should the residues be packed?
ANS – The residues should be bulk packed, in interchangeable dumpsters, 200 liter barrels, canisters or big bags.
11 Does Renova allow its productive process to be followed?
ANS - Yes, Renova is always open for its clients and partners in order to allow them to follow all the steps of its productive process.
